Assalamualaikum, today I would like to share some thoughts regarding being a materialist.
Now what exactly is materialism?

The theory or attitude that physical well-being and worldly possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life.

it also means
interest in and desire for money, possessions, etc, rather than spiritual or ethical values.

If you're a materialist, you're basically suffering from materialism. Why did I described it as "suffering"? Well, it's because you're actually, mentally suffering. Nothing's ever enough, you'd always want more and more. You look at others and compare all your materials with theirs, you sneer at the sight of people who have something that are of less value than yours. You think having all the wealth in this world with make you feel happy and live a peaceful life, when in fact, you're never at ease. Because with every single material you're chasing, there's always a catch. There will always be something that you have to sacrifice if you're after the "material of this world".

Funny thing is, we all have had the experience of being a materialist. Some of us may still suffer from it. One thing for sure is, being a materialist exhaust the mind and the heart. The mind because it's constantly thinking about the things you don't have and why you need to have it (sometimes, we don't actually need it, we just really want it). The heart because it's never satisfied with whatever's around you. Living a live with dissatisfaction, is that really living? Wanting what other people have and sacrificing your happiness for it, are you really living The Life? If you think having a certain thing makes you better than the rest, you might want to think twice. Because in your eyes they might not have much, but in reality they have been blessed with something far more valuable, a heart that is content. Materialism just leads to arrogance and most of the time, depression.

This post was rather serious, I just feel that each of us have to take a hard look at ourselves and acknowledge our weaknesses. Having a weakness does not mean we're horrible people, it just means we have something that we need to improve on.

Coconut Shake?

Assalamualaikum, (as I have mentioned previously) I was in Malaysia for 2 months, approximately a month and a half in Sarawak and 2 weeks in Kedah. While I was in Kedah the first place we went to was this place to eat that served Coconut Shake... Wait what? Coconut shake??? Yes, apparently there is such a thing. Don't judge me for not knowing what it was okay, even though I am indeed a Malaysian but I've been away from my home country for a long time (even though we visit Malaysia once a month, we don't get to stay long and thus we don't have the time to explore) So this time around, I had the chance to see and taste this thing called "Coconut Shake". Fyi, I am not really a fan of coconut, not that I don't eat them, just that I easily get sick of it, so I was pretty surprised that I actually liked the taste of this shake.

Being the stubborn person that I am, I rejected the offer to order one (my auntie was ordering) and I ordered milo instead. But someone from my family had ordered one (I can't remember who) and I had the chance to taste it.

credit to my cousin's friend for taking this wuuhuu ~
credit to my mom who took this blurry close up picture of the "coconut shake" haha
So from what I have tasted, my guess is that it is fresh coconut water blended with vanilla ice cream, and coconut meat (I think)topped with a scoop of the same creamy vanilla ice cream. (If someone actually know how they make them and any specific ingredient that they add in other than what I have mentioned, feel free to share them in the comment, I'd love to knowww) I quite like it, okay fine I really like it and I would definitely recommend it. It's worth a try!
